Background	Alpha 1 Antitrypsin is a plasma protein synthesised in the liver. It consists of a single polypeptide chain and has a molecular weight of 52 kDa. A serine protease inhibitor, its primary function is the protection of lung tissue from the action of neutrophil elastase.
Caution	All human source materials have tested negative for HIV 1 and HIV 2 antibodies and non-reactive for anti-HCV, anti-HBc and HBsAg. No test guarantees a product to be non-infectious. Therefore, all material derived from human fluids or tissues should be considered as potentially infectious.
