| Purity | > 95 % determined by SDS gelelectrophoresis |
| Add. information | Ligand binding to RAP is Ca2+ dependent and e.g. lipid receptors can be released from RAP by a buffer containing 10 mM EDTA (cf. Bajari et al. 2005, see ref. below). Furthermore, buffers containing phosphate should be avoided (it would form precipitates with Ca2+). |
| Application | Protein standard in 1D and 2D SDS gelelectrophoresis. Immunoblotting. Receptor-binding studies. |
| Background | Low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein-associated protein 1 (RAP) interacts with LRP1/alpha-2-macroglobulin receptor and glycoprotein 330. It is present on the cell surface forming a complex with the alpha 2 macroglobulin receptor heavy and light chains. Binds LRP1B; binding is followed by internalization and degradation. In complex with the alpha 2 MR or gp330, it may have some role in the pathogenesis of membrane glomerular nephritis. |
