Specificity
Specificity:
The mab reacts specifically with symplekin (a 150 kDa polypeptide) present in 1) tight junctions (zonula occludens) of polar epithelia and Sertoli cells of testis (but not their vascular endothelia!) and 2) exclusively in the nucleoplasm of these and many other cell types which do not form tight junctions (e.g. stratified epithelia such as oesophagus, tongue mucosa, epidermis; squamous cell carcinoma; nonepithelia such as fibroblasts, endothelia, lymphocytes).
Species:
Human, Rat.
Gene ID 8189
