Background	Fetuin, a glycoprotein present in serum is sythesized by hepatocytes is an important inhibitor of soft tissue clacification. It is frequently used as a tissue culture medium supplement contributing to the attachment and spreading of cells. Fetuin is a member of the cystatin superfamily of proteins.
