| Background | Pirimiphos is an insecticide belonging to the group of organophosphothioates. It is applied in the field on fruits, vegetables, in the storage of grain products and as an additive in paints. It has adverse effects on algae and mammals due to its biological activity as acetylcholine esterase inhibitor. Pirimiphos-methyl is an organophosphate used as a pesticide. It is a highly acutely toxic cholinesterase inhibitor. |
