| Background | CRP, also known as c-reactive protein, displays several functions associated with host defense. It promotes agglutition, bacterial capsular swelling, phagocytosis and complement fixation through its calcium-dependent binding to phosphorylcholine and can interact with D and histones and may scavenge nuclear material released from damaged circulating cells. Recombint rat CRP, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in insect cell and purified by using conventiol chromatography techniques. |
