| Background | CTU1 plays a central role in 2-thiolation of mcm5S2U at tR wobble positions of tR(Lys), tR(Glu) and tR(Gln). CTU1 directly binds tRs and probably acts by catalyzing adenylation of tRs, an intermediate required for 2-thiolation. It is unclear whether it acts as a sulfurtransferase that transfers sulfur from thiocarboxylated URM1 onto the uridine of tRs at wobble position. |
