Background of CD228 antibody
MFI2 is a cell-surface glycoprotein found on melanoma cells. The protein shares sequence similarity and iron-binding properties with members of the transferrin superfamily. It is involved in iron cellular uptake and seems to be internalized and then recycled back to the cell membrane. It binds a single atom of iron per subunit and could also bind zinc. This gene resides in the same region of chromosome 3 as members of the transferrin superfamily. There are two named isoforms.

HEK293T cells were transfected with the pCMV6-ENTRY control (Left lane) or pCMV6-ENTRY MFI2 (RC224600, Right lane) cDNA for 48 hrs and lysed. Equivalent amounts of cell lysates (5 ug per lane) were separated by SDS-PAGE and immunoblotted with anti-MFI2.
Western blot analysis of extracts (35ug) from 9 different cell lines by using anti-MFI2 Polyclonal antibody (HepG2: human; HeLa: human; SVT2: mouse; A549: human; COS7: monkey; Jurkat: human; MDCK: canine; PC12: rat; MCF7: human).
